Okay I currently own a 1st gen but its not on the road to many issues with the truck
motor is fine though. My commuter car is almost dead 01 chevy cavalier with 530,000 kilometers on the od so I came across a 2001 2500 2 wheel drive burgundy and silver with only 235,000 on it with a mild mild chip 3 stage under hood switch CIA and 4 inch from the turbo the guy wants 8900 $ for it should I go for it or not. My main concerns are how is the tranny on these and will this one have 53# block and the kdp problem the trucks body is in abosolutely mint shape inside and out so if you guys can chime in I would be really grateful!
Here is a list of what the truck has as well as a mint set of 3rd gen chromies!
Air conditioning
Power Windows
Power Locks
Power Extend and Mirrors
Cruise Control
Power Brakes
Power Steering
DVD Player
AUX Input
Tilt Steering Wheel
Cloth Bucket Seats
Driver / Passenger Airbag
Anti-Lock Brakes
Fog Lights
Remote Starter
Overhead Console
Rear Sliding Window

Sounds nice.
Your concerns are valid re: trans and 53 block. Trans ? you say the truck has a chip so buyer beware on that.
The 53 block is easy to avoid if you look for it, but many haven't failed and at 235K (miles or Kilometers?) that's enough to maybe be a non issue too.
You will want to monitor fuel pressure and ask about the vp44.
Otherwise without personally seeing the rig that's all I can say.

Okay well I know that the tranny was rebuild at around 160,000 and as for the chip he had it on the lowest setting for fuel economy and its only been on there for about 6 months and as for the 53 block how do u know if its one of those or not?
as a minimum get the trans an upgraded valve body and converter, weak link is the fuel pump monitor it and or change out for an AirDog. with pump filter and water seperator. There are some upgrades for the front suspension to consider when needed but not is crucial as the fuel monitoring and the trans. Stock the trans should last you a long time.
Skeptical on the claim about never having taken it above "economy" on the chip!
Good news on tranny.
Check for the 53. Lower drivers side front of block above oil pan. easy to see when you see it.
Good luck, sounds nice.

Crank Sensor issue in 24v swap
Be aware of the changes in the later 24v engines, 2001 and 2002 for sure. Sometime in 2000 or 2001, the engines no longer had a crank position sensor. I have a 1999 engine SN 56500507 that is a 53 block and has a crank position sensor. It cracked, and even though i lock'n'stitched, it continued to crack. I purchased a 2001 HO 245 hp out of a 2001 and am putting in this month. However, I need to use the old injector pump, ECM and crankshaft so that my stock wiring harness will have a Crank sensor signal. If you can find a non-53 that is of the same vintage as yours, you will save yourself some heartache, and wallet ache. Good luck.

The 53 block is not the issue it once was. A 53 block that hasn't cracked at this point almost certainly won't. Keep in mind that the truck you're looking at has 235,000 km on it with many, many warmup/cooldown cycles--if it was going to crack, it would most likely already have done so.
The most aggressive "chip" also wouldn't give me a second thought as far as the engine goes. Far more important is how the owner maintained it with oil and filter changes. Same for the transmission.
