1693 and 234 codes again

So I just cleaned my MAP sensor and what a difference in mileage, from my normal miserable towing 11 mpg up to almost 14 mpg, back road bumpy mountain roads net 15.77 mpg hand calculated, I'm extatic about the mileage increase but cleaning the MAP sensor has not corrected the engine overboost conditon and I can't find anyone locally that can actually read my 1693 code besides Dodge and I don't feel like paying there price.

Any ideas where to start? I do have a EZ (built in boost fooler I thought) but it's on level 1 for towing our ~7000lb TT. It's always been on level 3 (while not towing) but wanted to play it safe while towing. I never had the 234 code while the EZ was on level 3 so... does the EZ still provide the boost fooling on all levels or only levels 2 or 3? Boost numbers are MAX 32psi with the EZ and J-Hook, but that is only if climbing a steep grade and it shifts into 3rd, 4th gear is never above 25psi.

Truck seems to have good power, I had to codes reset after our last 2500 mile trip and everything was fine code wise untill I had the TT on again, now it has the 234 and 1693 again.

Check your fuel pressure out of the lift pump right away. My truck up and died with no other symptoms last week other than the same two codes. Lift pump totally failed which toasted the VP44. The LP had to be failing for awhile to sieze the rotor in the IP though. New LP and IP = $3300.

I don't think the EZ has built in boost fooling. I know mine came with the boost elbow.

The EZ does have built-in boost fooling. The elbow is just to allow the wastegate to not open till higher boost is attained. The boost fooling just hides the higher boost from the ECM.

Have you switched back to Level 3 to see if you still get the overboost code?

The EZ will boost fool for the ECM, the Elbow will hold back the wastegate from opening to allow it to make more boost.

234 is overboost. But, Failed VPs don't always get the 216. Sometimes they get no codes which is what happened in my case. For me, 1693 + 234 equaled toasted LP and IP.

unless you are having performance problems, ignore it.... i have the edge comp, i get 1693-- po234 all the time and it doesn't change the way the truck runs....... so let it go.
by the way, the code p0234 has nothing to do with your VP

That is not necessarily true. Though the 234 code technically is a response to to turbo pressures, overboosting causes the ECM to shut off fuel. That shut-off likely occurs within the VP44. IF fuel shut-off happens before the rotor assembly within the VP (and I'll be the first to admit that I have never pulled a VP44 apart or reviewed the design specs), then the Bosch VP44 might suffer under continuous or frequent overboost conditions just the same as if the Lift Pump were slowly depriving it of fuel. I doubt very much whether anyone has ever determined the impact of sporadic overboosting fuel shut-off on a VP44 - not even Bosch. BUT, my LP and IP died suddenly and the only codes were 1693 and 234.
