1687 code

that one just means that no message is getting from the guage cluster...due to possibly a short of some sort, correct?
Thanks

Correct.

Short or loose connector could throw the code.

perfect. thats a relief. I think this code (or short) also triggered my abs and brake lights to go on. Any ideas on how to remove them?
Thanks again,
Ian

The ABS and brake lights could be caused by the speed sensor in the rear axle.

Pull the ABS fuse and see if they go off. You could do a complete system reset by disconnecting the batteries and leaving the ignition key in the "on" position for about half an hour.

crobtex: thanks, I'll give those a try. The abs and brake light came on after I shorted out the guage cluster. shouldn't have been the speed sensor. kinda odd IMO
