#12 Block Casting??
Well I am back in search of a replacement for my cracked 53 and came across a #12 casting number. I was told that this 24v motor was from a 01 ram 2500. My concern is that I can find anything about this casting and dont want to get burned by a bad motor. Has anyone heard of this casting number? I thought the guy was looking at the wrong number on the phone so I looked at it today and it is on the drivers side where is should be...any thoughts?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

Could be a Mexican block. Mine has a number of small numbers and lettering where the '53' should /would be. If its a Mexican block it is considered a good one.

i hope it is. My only issue is that I have not seen anybody mention a "12" casting on their block. There are no other numbers around it. It is cast just like the 53 but it is a 12. They are going to give me a six month warranty and for $1500 I dont think I can go wrong.

I researched this a lot before buying a Cummins and I didn't come across any mention of 12 blocks either, but I can't imagine it would be an issue. As long as its not a 53 you should be ok.

thats is the only thing that bothers me about this block. Of all the people that have looked at their block to see if they have the dreaded 53 why has noboby come back stating that they have a 12 casting. I even called cummins and they did not know!
