I think so, and as soon as my photo is approved you can see 2004.5's on a 1996 2500:

The tires on this one are 245/70R17's, and you can see that it could stand a much larger tire. The center holes were tight on the front so I put some anti-seize on to keep them from welding themselves to the hubs over time. No wheel modification at all.
