02 skipped a beat last weekend
Last weekend I was pulling a 25' gooseneck with a tractor and disc mower on, I wasn't for sure but I thought it dead pedaled once or twice but it was very brief. So I checked codes and came up with P 1693 and P 0216 and P 0234. One was fuel injector timing failure and one was turbo boost limit exceeded and one was DTC detected in PCM/ECM. Question is do I have real problems or was it the fact I was pulling 15000 lbs and in a hurry to get home?

From what everyone says on this site the P 0216 is the Death Code for your injection pump. It could last a year or it going go out in a day depending on how bad it is. Mine lasted over 2 months with that code before I had it replaced. It was still strong when I had it replaced but I just didn't want to take any chances. If you are mechanically inclined and can replace it on your own look around here for some sites that see IP's at a good price, one that comes to mind is midwst fuel injection, MWFI.com. But if you are under warranty still like i was then just have the dealer replace it, it was one less thing I had to do at the time.
It sure sounds like a failing injection pump. Mine did about the same a few years back. I had a fuel pressure guage so when I did catch it acting up I was able to observe my fuel pressure which was ok. Do you have a guage??
0216 is not a good sign my vp44 went 44000miles more before it would not pull a load anymore and barely could get around check your lift pump pressure but me thinks the grave is close at hand
I figured as much. It looks like I'll be looking for an injector pump. What do I do about the P 0234 code? I'll check the wastegate this weekend. Also with this truck being an automatic how much can I do to the motor before I need to start worring about the transmission? Keep in mind this truck sits all week and the only thing I use it for is around the farm. Most of the time I just use it to check cows, but it is used to haul hay, pull tractors around and cattle to the salebarn.
You can add up to about 60 HP with no problems... on a healthy tranny. An EZ or a Smarty... both having boost foolers... will solve your code problem, give you more air and 'juice' the truck nicely.

I recommend the Smarty. More expensive but lots more features.
Sounds like when you tow...you tow fairly heavy. Keep it out of OD when heavy and watch closely for slipping converter (rpm increase w/ no speed increase). With good maintenance and frequent fluid & filter changes, the Dodge 47RE auto is better than many think. The after market rebuilts are spectacular.
