No experience with the FASS because it's $$$$ and I'm a poor man. I went with the Vulcan relocate/big line kit for $115 and it's been just fine. I can't pull my FP below 10psi at WOT so I'm happy with it.

From what I've read, the FASS system is the cat's meow but for what it costs, the Vulcan system is the poor mans FASS.

Woodnails - BOMB = Better Off Modified Baby (or 'Boys'.... or maybe should be Bozo's??)!

Need to decide as best as you can, where your going...HP wise! If 350 hp... a big line kit will handle keeping your Fuel Pressure up. If wanting 500 hp, you need an after market fuel pump of some kind. Either a replacement...FASS, Walbro, etc...... or an inline add-on to boost stock system.... Holley Blue, Carter Campaign pump, etc.

Lots of choices, so do your homework and decide HP goal first.... than try to not want more than that once you get there.

I know one member whose stated goal was 275 HP....back on 01. He's now at 860 HP. I started out, in 02, positive I would never want, need or have more that 350 hp.
Maybe you can guestimate better!

the 53 is no fluke thing. they usually start to show signs around 120k some a lttle higher, working for cummins I can tell you that it is an issue. I have an 02 and I love it. just have the ball joints, wheel bearing, steering shaft checked out. and install a fuel pressure gauge. most failures of vp's are due to lack of fuel not a vp problem specifically, it does happen but more so due to low fuel pressure. I would have loved a 12v but could not find one with the mileage I wanted when i bought mine. I have had small problems but nothing to make me regret buying the truck
