I have an '01 dodge ram 3500 automatic that I eventually want to convert to a standard trans. I have been told that I will need to switch the computers on the truck- obviously very expensive and that it would be near impossible?? its this true? I know its a big project but are there any major complications?

 

I should have added that I would also like suggestions on shift kits or anything I could use to make my auto last longer.. I had a '98 1500 auto that was horrible and don't really want to see this one go bad quite so fast!!

 

I am doing this to my 01 this summer...i have searched and searched about the computer thing and called sum companies...they all say i will have to change computers, but they cant seem to give me a price...i finally talked to a guy that has done the swap to the 24 valve..and he said he didnt have to change computers...just do a little rewiring for the cruise control..so im goin into the project without planning on changing the computer..
