Angry 0-2psi and I had to fight for a new lift pump!

I hooked Briar Hopper test gauge to my 02 yesterday and it would read 12psi at startup for the first 30-45 seconds seconds and then plunge to 0-2 psi after that. Took it into the dealer and they performed their 25 second "volume" test and they said it put out 47 oz/25 sec which was borderline. Said they could not go off of the pressure reading and they are instructed by the factory to NOT replace borderline lift pumps. Well, if it puts out 12 psi for the first 30-45 seconds, I guess it could put out 47. Spent about 20 minutes ranting about how that volume test is invalid. Had the wife call up and rant about how the truck hesitates.

That volume test is total BS because it sounds like they just bump the starter and measure volume. In my case, the lift pump was obvioulsy bad from the PSI reading but passed their volume test. They even wrote on my ticket that the PSI reading I took was confirmed.

Finally, they agreed to replace the fricken lift pump under warranty after the mechanic heard a "strange" noise from the lift pump They wrote that the after replacement volume was 49oz/25 seconds.

FYI, they installed lift pump #5015723AC

Called up ATS for a quote on boost, fuel psi, and pyro pillar gauges installed and they want $850 How much would it cost to do this myself?

Print this out, then show it to the "Technician"

The "Flow Test" is ONE of several tests they're supposed to perform to diagnose a faulty pump.

$850 isn't out of line installed IMHO. 1) they aren't going to run fuel in the cab, so would run an isolator 2) gauges, mount and isolator are gonna run $400 give or take. 3) They're gonna remove your turbo to do the pyro cuz they aren't gonna assume liability without taking all precautions

Do it yourself. It's very easy to install and costs nothing. I've done 4 sets of gauges. Takes about 2-3 hours depending on how slow and meticulous you are.
