Won't start.

So i got my cummins a few months ago, doing things here and there to get it road ready. I changed the fuel water filter, but when i did the threaded piece came with it. I think i put it on right, but i get a fuel drip every couple of minute or so. I have tried to start this beast several times, along with bleeding and finally unplugged the grid heater and gave it a slight mist of ether. It kicked over for a second or so then died. Is it just air in the system?

Have you checked the connection on the shut off solenoid?

You are definitely getting air in there if it's dripping fuel.

Replace the fuel heater gasket.

And are you sure you put the fuel heater back right side up? I only ask because I've seen it done wrong...

Gasket side goes up. The gasket is a square cut o-ring that fits in a groove in the top surface of the heater. It's hard to tell it's even there when it's old and squashed down flat.

OK, is there a square washer on the filter side too? or just the bigger one on the filter. There is a small square one around the fitting on the bottom of the heater plate for me right now. Upside down?

The little one on the spud is not important.

The square o-ring on the filter seals the filter to the fuel heater. There is another square o-ring in a groove on top of the fuel heater that seals the fuel heater to the head. Clear as mud?
