wmo help
i have ran wmo in large quantities for the last few tanks, clean and good burnt oil, now my truck has a rough idle @ startup for a couple secs blow lots of white bluish smoke and i hear this wierd clatter knock sumthin the the vavles,
im about to change the oil and fuel filter add lucas to the motor oil and add 3 gallons of lucas diesel fuel additive to the tank and filter, also clean my k&n and kinda just a diesel tune up, should i also pull the injectors and clean them, what about pullin the valve covers and look around in there? should i open up my pump and take a look as well? what should i look for as signs of damage? i just wanna know whats the reason for the rough idle kinda loss of power, massive ammounts fo nasty smoke
, wierd clatter knock and funny soundin exhaust? help!! IMO wmo is good about 1 gallon per 2 full tanks and no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Waste motor oil
I and some friends have done quite a bit of this and even cummins has positive comments about it. In our experience we did very well since mine is double filtered. One filter as it comes out of the bed tank and one on the engine. Keep in mind waste oil is dirty that is why you took it out. Also I have less trouble than my friends did because of the double filter and I ' NEVER ' run any fuel without an additive and they always say injector cleaner on the container. We have run as much as 50/50 with no problems in engine running, there was a little more smoke than normal. These motors (we did it ) will run on straight ATF, soy bean oil (cooking variety), corn and peanut oil. I would try a double batch of injector cleaner in a tank or two and see if it cleans things up. I also got 580k on the injection pump before having to do a reseal job. . R C
Change the fuel filter.
What do you mean by large quantities? Cummins never recommended more than 5% by volume. Running a lot of WMO in a truck that doesn't get worked is just asking for deposit buildup in the injector nozzles.

like about 5 gallons fo wmo in 7 gallons of diesel, and i drive about 100 miles a day, i was also thinkin abut what u r sayin about the deposit buildin up in the injector so i was gettin on it a whole bunch during the last few tanks, should i pull clean pop test my injectors?
Alright I know this is probably a dumb question to you guys but by WMO you mean wast motor oil? Can I really run this in my tank? I also drive 100+ miles a day mostly 6 days a week. And I work at a dealership so wast oil is no problem for me to get my hands on. What do I have to do to it to make it burn in my truck. I.E. filtering, does it matter what oil I use? Is synthedic ok? Or does it all have to be diesel oil. Also we only use the CJ4 at my dealer for the new Dmaxes, will that be ok. I've also read that atf can be ran, I've filled my fuel filter a couple of times while changing it out. Can I run this also. I always run diesel kleen in my tank with every fill up at the max mixture will this blend with your wast oil I'm really interested in this topic all help and answeres are much appreciated.

there is a lot of information
i am runing a 70-30 mix we mixed 30 gallons of waste motor oil (wmo) with 70 gallons of diesel run fine smokes more blue untill the engine warms up more black once it warms up.
filter it good i think most guys use a 2 micron filter.
i used 3 ten micron filters on the pump out of the barrel with oil and one on the transfer tank and of course the one on my engine.

I have done tons of reasearch on this topic. Are you guys dumping the wmo directly in the stock fuel tank or do you have a second fuel system?? WMO can be run 97% to 3% diesel fuel if it is properly filtered, and you must heat it to at least 175 degrees before it enters the fuel pump. I recomend a 1 micron filtering system since wmo has very small particulates of metal. If you can't find a 1 micron, hit me back I can give you some links. Also a magnet work really well to filter some of the metal particulates. Rare earth magnets as they are expensive, work the best. I have been using speaker magnets. Find one at a car stereo dealer that came off of a big woofer or something.
I would like some info from you guys about the different generations of the cummins. When did these generations start and stop?? What was the first year of the computerized fuel pump??

as far as im concerned, if your gona run lots of wmo, add another fuel filter under the bed b4 the LP and the larger fleetguard one under the hood and change them out often, and avoid police cuz its gona smoke a bunch!
