wiring an alternator
wiring an alternator
what do i need to do in order to bypass the "computer" when wiring in my alternator. i must need a voltage regulator, and other than that, i'm not sure. what terminals on the alternator need to see keyed power or something?
the reason i ask is b/c my alt is not charging the battery, but the alternator was put on a test stand and was putting out at least 14v. i think it would be easier just to make the alt work without having it go through the computer.

The one in the write up is a standard Dodge regulator, same from the early '70's to the late '80's. Ask them for a regulator for an '85 D150, that'll get you the right one. Or go to the junkyard and pull a couple OEM ones off any old Mopar products. The OEM ones are better quality and you can get a spare to throw under the seat for less than one new one.
