alternator, belt, ??? help with wiring

Last year I had to change alternators. ('98 24 valve)...in the middle of something so I did it quick and went back to work.
Today my belt blew.
Got a new belt. Got looking when putting it on..and I could see that the alternator pulley was for a 6 groove belt. Mine needed an 8 groove pulley.
Took it back to autozone, they traded me for a '99 8 pulley,
Everything seems to fit...but the wiring harness no longer matches.
Looks like the 99 just "plugged in"...whereas mine (other than the big main wire) had two little wires over posts.

I do NOT want to fry my computer, so does anybody out there know how the wiring would match up?????

Please help, I am well versed in electronics,..but car alternators are not exactly my bag. I'd like to just hardwire it correctly (if someone knows what goes where) rather than keep waiting for them to find me a correct one.

I am guessing that I can't change the pulley on my old one without ruining something,..it's bolted on...but I would guess that bolt is the least of my worries when it comes to taking that pulley off.

Never did an Alt on a 99, but my 97 is exactly as you describe with the 2 wires. It is easy to change pulleys though.

Something else is fishy though, all CTD's so far as I know were 8 groove, including your 98.

Perhaps check in with a NAPA or other old school store?

You are right, something was fishy.
I talked to dodge, as well as 2 parts houses. Nobody had heard of a 6 groove cummins. So I opened up the old 93 cummins,...and it was the exact same setup as my 98 24 valve (that is..wiring and belts to the alternator)..no 6 groove to be had.
So I went back and called their bluff...he said at the bottom of their page it said "pully change may be required"..
"may'...was stretching it...to say the least.
But they gave me the old alternater back,..and the 8 groove pulley off the new one...so in the end, everything worked out with the wiring and belt.
Now I know to never exchange an alternator without taking the pulley off first. I'm glad I didn't have to monkey with wiring,..dodge wanted me to buy a whole new wiring harness for a zillion bucks. I wonder if they've EVER sold one of those.
Thanks for the replies.
