Replaced my belt, Alternator and Starter
But not in that order, and not on purpose!
A couple months ago when I replaced my batteries the tech said that my alternator was acting a little flaky.
I noticed that it was taking a little more time to crank and that voltage was not as high as it should be. But it wasn't consistently a problem.
Until last Saturday when my truck almost stranded me.
New alternator from O'Really(!) went in without problem. Also decided to replace my original belt (yes, factory new in '02). Should NOT have waited so long to do the belt-- oy, it was a time bomb waiting to happen. All the ribs cracked all the way around-- I can't believe it didn't strand me.
HIGHLY recommend the Gates Fleetrunner! Awesome belts:

When I went to jump start my truck with the new alternator and belt, I accidentally let all of the smoke out of the starter solenoid.
Oops. You're supposed to keep all that inside!
So much for my weekend of Glock break-in.

Sometimes everything goes at once!
Thanks for the heads up on the belt, I have been needing to pick up a spare and throw it under the back seat.
My starter solenoid contacts gave up around 125K. I went down to the local auto electric place and got a set of the heavy duty contacts and plunger for about $30 and did it myself. They looked identical to the "super" contacts the other guy sells, but were only 6 bucks for the set.
17K miles later she still fires off instantly and no drag on the batteries or starter...
I should probably get out and exercise the glock this weekend, thanks for the idea!!

You know whats a sure fire way to be 100% sure you will be rebuilding your starter stranded in the woods in a bar ditch with a 40ft loaded stock trailer? carry the new contacts and plunger around in your jockey box for several weeks and just dealing with the terrible starting habits
