Window

ok so my window no longer goes alll the way down i have to push it down with my hand and cant push it to far down or risk not being able to grab it and pull it back up. i had take the window motor out thinkin maybe it was that and i took it apart like the one sticky post showed and that was fine. when i put it back in i discovered the regulator (i think thats the name of it) or maybe its called the control arm but the teeth on that were basically gone. so how do i get that out of there and put a new one in and where do i get a new one from??? it was a pain to get the window motor out how am i suppose to get that whole massive thing out? anyone have any experience??

Don't know for sure, but you may need to pull the window out and pull that gear out where the window was. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more knowledge/experience.

yea the one Jim Lane wrote was what i thought it was a first which was the window motor. But when i pulled that out i discovered that it was the arm or regulator or gear whatever you want to call it, that the teeth that the motor teeth connect too are completely worn down to nothing there is only a small amount of teeth left to crack the window down

If it hasn't been removed since the factory built it, you must drill out the pop rivets that hold the regulator in place. It's been a few years since I tore one down, but it was for the same reason, teeth chewed off of the half gear on the regulator. I think the regulator gets bound up due to dirty tracks and lack of lube and sometimes the metal gives out before the plastic gears. The entire cross assembly must be replaced.

i just had this happen to me, but it was my motor that was bad. The only rivets you need to drill out are the ones holding the bump stop in. Simple enough and then just replace them with bolts. Now im not sure where you're at with the diagnosis, but it seems like you already have everything out. Now the bad news is that your regulator is shot. No cheap auto parts store sells it and the only one i could find is from napa, and its around $100. You may be lucky and find one at a junk yard. The only problem is that you cant tell the condition of the gear until its completely out, and that a lot of work. Hope this helps
