Will 92 gas PDL and PW be plug and play?

I own the truck in my sig. SE model. I can get complete doors from a 92 gasser. doors are complete with power door locks, power windows and power mirror and harnesses. Does my main harness in my 91.5 diesel have the plugs under the dash for this? or will I have to do wiring to get it to work? plug and play? or not? that is the question!

thanks in advance,

Rick

Yes you can. That is what is on my truck. 90% of the electronics are the same.

Does your truck have PW/PDL's ????

If it does. The right side door plug is behind the glove box. The left side door has no disconnect plug on the door harness. You have to "GENTLY unhook the harness from the switches.

what do you mean by does my truck have them? No it doesn't, which is why I'm thinking about buying these doors. basically what I'm asking is if my truck has the same plugs already under the dash in the main harness so I could just plug the harnesses in that come out of the doors.

It was my understanding that these trucks had all the options built into every harness so if a truck was supposed to be equiped with these options it was just more or less plug and play. Or, do you mean to say that this is not the case and your asking if my truck even has those plugs at all?

The pass. door has 2 harness plugs. A 6 port/5wire plug and a much larger 8port/8wire harness.
The driver door has many plugs. 2 of which attach to those pass. ones. Then there are 5 others. one is a 4 wire green plug. one is a 2 wire gray plug (speaker wires?). one is a larger 4 wire square black plug. A long skinny 6wire/7 needle male plug and the last one I suspect is for the power mirror because it's the shortest, it's an 8 port/8wire female plug.

I guess tomorrow I'll just crawl into my heap and see what I can find what lurks under that dash of mine.

My truck doesn't have the power mirror controller so if I wanted to use that, I'd need to scrounge one from somewhere.

My 88 Rc had them under the dash. You will have to look hard for them but they should be there. They might be taped back to the harness. passenger side is eraser to find but the drivers side it took me a while to find it. If you can see them on the truck you are getting the doors from would help on finding yours.

Cut the harness in the junk truck leaving both parts of the connector with a short piece of the donor harness attached. You may want to get a guarantee that the PDL & PW function before you buy because of their high failure rates. I have two trucks here that neither still have functional PDL's and one out of two that the PW's still function. They definitely were a product of Chrysler's poor engineering design team.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do. I want to hook everything up and make sure it all works.

I am 90% certain the green plug is for the rear speakers, the 2 wire gray plug I think is also speakers. The long skinny 6wire/7 needle male plug I suspect is for the radio because it is attached to the speaker plugs. Which leaves the 4 wire/port square plug (which I suspect is the PDL and PW) and then the short wired 8wire/port plug which is probably for the power mirrors.

The only 4 port square plug I can find that will match the PW/PDL plug is the HVAC (my truck doesn't have ac though) plug. I can't just disconnect that otherwise I won't have function of my blower motor. It was located behind the radio. I can't find any plugs behind the glove box like you guys mentioned.

I did find 3 unused plugs under the dash though. They don't match anything that I know of. I am curious to know what they are for. Maybe I'll take a picture of them later and see if anyone knows. I'm very curious about them.

The right plug it at the cowl top behind the glove box. you will probably have to remove the glove box. it is a black connector (plug) with 3 wires ( 1 Wt, 1YL/BK, 1DB)
The left plug is grey with 3 wires ( 1 YL/PK 1 YL & 1 DB/WT.
Tease are for the power mirrors
I am parting a 92 club cab this weekend & I'll try to get some pics

yeah the glove box is on the floor of my truck right now and so is my dash bezel. I still couldn't find any spare plugs at all on the driver side. 2 of the 3 plugs on the driver side were 3 wire plugs though. I can't remember what color the wires were at the moment but I'm guessing one of them is the plug you describe. Pictures would be super helpful [thumbsup]

Maybe later I should take pictures of what everything looks like too so people know what I'm talking about.

Do you have power windows?? I took a lot of pics today when I completely gutted the club cab. If you do have power windows you will have the power harness that connects both doors with all the electric options. If you don't you WILL need the power harness that runs under the cowl from door to door. Let me know.

My truck does not have any of the power options but the power harness that runs from door to door comes with the doors that I might be buying. I'm just trying to figure out where on my truck harness that door to door harness plugs into. If that makes sense. I didn't have any time today to do it because I was busy but I have a bit of time set aside tomorrow to do a little more digging around.

thanks so much for your help jungle. I FINALLY managed to find the power window/lock plug on the main harness in my truck because of the pictures you sent me. It was tucked up under the dash REAL good hiding up in there! but I found it. I tested the power locks and they worked but the power windows did not work. I never did have the controller for the power mirrors so I wasn't able to check to see if they worked but I didn't really care about them anyways.
I guess I won't be buying the doors but thanks to you I can know for sure and won't waste my money so thanks!

You probably just need to put a breaker in the fuse block for the power windows. If the truck didn't have power windows, Dodge would not have wasted 50 cents to put a breaker in for an unused circuit.
