WIF wiring

Can anyone tell me how to determine which terminals on the WIF sensor the 2 wires need to be connected to?
The reason I ask is because my wiring has been chopped by the po, and the wires coming from the WIF sensor are both black (I believe it is aftermarket and had the terminal cut off at some point). I don't want to hook it up backwards and cause any problems. Thanks for your help.

Get a Fleetguard filter FS1221. Better filter and no WIF sensor

According to the FSM, the wiring color codes for the water and fuel are. From the plug to the sensor 20TN & 18BK. From the plug to the truck wiringK32 20WT/BK ( this is connected to the 20TN, sensor wire ) K4 18BK/LB. From looking at the schematic I don't think it matters which way the wires are hooked up. Just my two cents, Mike.

From the wiring diagrams, it appears the sensor is a basic resistor. I just don't know what that means for the sensor return wire (K4 18BK/LB) and the WIF sensor wire (K32 20WT/BK).

The WIF sensor has 2 metal probes sticking up into fuel filter. When water comes up to these probes it completes the circuit thus turning the WIF light on. It would almost seem as if it would not matter which wire goes to which side but, since I don't have my FSM in front of me I would have to see if this is true.

i dosent matter, like bob said, the continuity of water will close the circuit, and turn on light, if you wash your motor and get the connector wet, you will see the same.

It doesn't matter which goes where. Try touching the 2 wires together and the wif light should come on...Mark
