Why would my speedo and OD die at the same time?

Why would my speedo and OD die at the same time?
This is real strange, the speedometer dies goes to zero and the tranny loses overdrive. It happens in the beginning of the day when I drive the truck for the first 15-20 minutes. It scared the heck out of me the first time it happened. The duration is lasting longer from the first time it happened. It's happend the last 4 or 5 times I drove the truck. Is this the beginning of the OD gear going out?

speedo tells computer that it is time to go into overdrive my did the same thing took outspeed senosor where it goes into tranny the shaft is suposs to be square my was round so i wrap electric tape around the shaft works great

I did the same thing for a couple of weeks, then had to replace the pin this last week.
In Sacramento there is a speedo shop call Commercial Speedo off Harbor Blvd.
