Just one in the 93 the 99 has 2, the 93 is way easier to start and starts faster then the 99.

Just one group 31A 925cca battery in mine but its a real upgrade from the Yugo battery that was in it when I got the truck!

Do you guys have a good source for factory replacement type cables or just make them up myself?

I'm going to switch to a battery with the 5/16" studs on the top and make up new battery cables to fit. I hate messing around with the usual cable ends. the nuts get all rusted onto the bolts and then you can't tighten them up well. When I get to this job, I will be getting marine grade or welding cable to make the new battery cables with.

My cummins only needs one to start in anything. If I had alot of accessories I might add a second one. If I had a Powerstroke I'd probably have 4 batteries to make it start in the cold.

Factory cables are as close as your Dodge dealer - or your mailbox if you order them from one of the dealers that sells online.

Just to clear this up, before someone goes and has the wrong lugs crimped on their cables, standard stud-posts on batteries are 3/8 x 16 thread size.

Replacing the lead cable ends with copper lugs and replacing the lead-post batteries with stud type is one of the best things I ever done for my vehicles.

It is no longer a dreaded hassle to remove a cable from the battery.

I am gonna have to take time and get some patient, VERY PATIENT, soul to walk me through this picture business, once and for all.

I have had a few try to explain it to me; but, they start out with all this computer lingo that I have not the foggiest idea what they are meaning.

I can take the truck apart, scatter it across the yard, and put it back together; but, I can't seem to grasp this picture business.

You are welcome to come by my shop and I will pop the hood for you to look to a fare-the-well, if that will help.

Next time I am in Kentucky I will take you up on that!

Or maybe I should say the first time I am in Kentucky!

If you figure out the picture business I would like to check it out.

Thanks!

My mistake, I had just gone and got a 5/16 nut to attach another cable to the tightening bolt on my stock battery cable and that's what I was thinking of.

Anyway, I hope to convert to stud style battery in the next month, and when I do, i will post pix.

A good battery education.

Here is some good reading on batteries:

I made my own from 2/0 guage welding cable, copper lugs, and shrink tube. Seem to work MUCH better than stockers. I got my cable for free, but it usually runs about $4/ft. Rest of the stuff from Napa was under $10.
