I got stuck on some icey hard packed snow, the kind of stuck where I pulled out of the barn,stopped then tried to back up and the tires spun ( on almost flat ground). So after a few 2 wheel drive attempts, Ilocked the hubs, pulled the t-case lever back into 4x4 and then put the trans in reverse, I tapped the throttle and the tires just started to spin ans then it was like the tcase popped out of gear into neutral.
So I tried every combo of t case and trans gears and I have no reverse!
I drug it backwards with my dads W so I could get turned around and then drove it home 5 miles.
I guess the truck heard me mention the 47 RH I found for sale, to my wife.
Any ideas? Major carnage in there or any easy fix?

Ooops thought you had a Getrag...No reverse in an Auto...probably not a good thing. Could be bad adjustment on the shift lever? Not fully selecting reverse?

 

If you have 3rd, then it has to be the rear band, or the direct clutches in the OD section.
Most likely it is the band or it's apply piston. Drop the pan and check it.

 

Unfortunately I had to leave town for work tonite so I won't be able to mess with it til Friday night. If that is the problem, what's the fix? How in depth?

 

Could also be the sprag clutch let go
