Where is my power steering fluid going?

1990 cummins non intercooled.......Last few weeks I have needed to add 2 qts of power steering fluid ... I checked for leaks but everything is dry. I did have the engine out a month ago and drained the PS pump, then when i first fired it up I forgot to fill the reservoir and heard it moaning when I backed out of the shop. Since then I have logged at least a 1,000 miles before the fluid started to disappear... any connection... I don't know.

Should I assume the fluid is going into the block? Someone told me the vac pump is burning it, but I don't see how that is mechanically possible.

The oil level is between the marks but it does seem runnier than normal.

I looked at the FAQ page about Vac pump rebuilds, seem pretty straight forward to replace the seal.

Who do I get the seal from? Dodge, Cummins or a parts house?

Thanks- Jason

Yep same deal only no brake fluid...

Guess I'll put it apart and if anything exciting is in there I'll take some pics!
