03 6bt into a 82 crew cab

im looking at buying a 1982 Crew Cab Short box that currently has a 360 with a 4speed manual trans and i might be able to get a 03 cummins 24v 6bt out of his ram and his 46re 6 speed trans and im looking at swapping the motor and trans from the 03 into the 82. the cab and bed are being pulled off for paint and bodywork anyway. how much work is this project going to be and is there anything in specific i need to watch out for?

Have a look in the 'conversions' forum on this site, I'm sure there's a bunch of good info in there. And for some reason I think there's a site dedicated to Cummins conversions.... cumminscoversions.com? Something like that. A Google search will get results, I have no doubt!

The 46re is not a six speed trans it is a 3 speed with overdrive. The only six speed would be a stick.

Also the 24v 5.9 is an ISB, not a B series. http://www.cumminsdieselspecs.com/24v.html

You can check out destroked.com and painlessperformance.com parts and wiring.

all 5.9's and the 6.7 are B models/series. however you prefer to identify it, "B" refers to the engine family. the only difference is the ISB name stands for Interact System B and was given to '98.5 and later model 24v 5.9s. which i'm sure is because of the use of electronics to control and monitor certain sensors (crank and camshaft position sensors), injectors, etc. which interact with the ECMs for optimum performance. mainly due to meeting emissions regulations.

for the OP, destroked has the Zues Stand Alone ECM for common rails... http://www.destroked.com/zeus/index.shtml

the 03 is doable but none of the first gen gauges will match up ? it would be alot faster to drop a first gen 12 valve in there .Kool idea thou

yeah i know id have to use diff gauges. im thinking of working a way to fiberglass custom the dash and put the 03 gauge cluster in and run 03 gauges because ill be getting the 03 motor and trans and everything for free so itll be worth it to do some work to make it work. and it would definitely be unique
