I would try the dealership, or you might get lucky at and the local hardware store might have something that would work.

Turnbuckle

Last summer I ran into this problem. At that time my dealer said order it in for $ 57 plus freight. I did some looking and best find was WW Grainger matched up one that they use (called it a control rod ) to close heating vents by remote control. Very sturdy unit with ball ends & heavy duty compared to ours expect it to last forever. Had to drill one hole for the mount for the end towards the firewall to mount to a little extra effort great repair all brass and steel. I did the work so cost total with the rod I had to buy was about $ 8 dollars. Cost 4 hours looking for replacement part and 30 mins of install time.

What Montana said!!! Call or go to a cummins dealer in your area, give them part# and get the whole assembly. It's a whole lot easier and fixed the proper way. I believe the price may have gone up when i purchased mine from Mid Atlantic Cummins in Greensboro,NC. I believe it was $35 and some change. Don't piece part repair it FIX IT RIGHT! The part is not that expensive

Yes, and the Cummins ends are metal, not plastic.

That is what I did...

I made my own.

I got the Heim Joints from my local Specialty Fastener Shop.

The one on the right hand side where you see the ring around the end by the nut has a left hand thread so it fits the factory threaded rod.

I had to remove the old ball stud with a die grinder. With this new link there is absolutely ZERO unwanted movement.

All of the parts were about $25.00

Do you happen to know what the thread/pitch is of the rod?

Thanks, Aaron

Aaron,
I am almost certain it is an M-6 6mm x1.0

The Heim Joint with the band around the end has a left hand thread.
The ball takes a 6mm bolt; I used a bolt and a Nylock nut.
