what is kdp?
killer dowel pin. (its a pin that resides in the timing case*ithink* and it is prone to wiggling out and cracking the housing because it gets jammed in teh gear. should find a ton of info in the tech section of the website. thanks for the reminder i still need to get mine taken care of one day!

it starts with the new 1994 timing covers. it is called the killer dowel pin becuase when it wiggles out it is notorious for killing the timing cover and i have heard of it damaging timing gearsets and in a few cases i think it has killed the motor. I know mine wiggled out enought to let the gasket behind the timing cover gasket tear. the $1600+ is going to be a "killer" my wallet

Here's a example in a '93 CTD:

The typical fix is to modify a washer so as to block the pin from coming out and falling into the gears and/or case with catastrophic results.
