Went about doing bearings, rotors and calipers today. Pulled the passenger side caliper off and found this inside. Never in my days have I seen anything on this level of thinking outside of the box. Had new pads as well so someone had been in there not to long before I bought the truck.

Looks like the last guy forgot to remove his spacer block when he took the C-clamp off after sending the pistons home.

Didn't work on the truck at all. Earlier last week Rockauto sent out a close out list of parts for my rig. Big bargains. A set of Carquest brake drums for $118 shipped. Just a single drum locally from Carquest was $107+tax. Carrier bearing, 3 Purolator Gold oil filters, 1 Mobil1. (approximately $4 per filter) A/C relay, high pressure switch. Turbo mounting gaskets, intake grid/horn gaskets, idler pulley, 2 serpentine belts, all kinds of stuff.

Leftover Cerakote. Have this beat up and scarred beauty cover I got with a pile of engine parts. Leftover Cerakote in glacier black and stoplight red. Used some modeling brushes to hand paint. Going to take my Dremel and polish it with something that won't keep the final coat of ceramic high gloss clear from sticking. Not sure what that would be. I am open to recommendations! Some else started the stripping job.

I painted some cast Chinesium valve covers stoplight red too. Probably going to paint my original with clear after going stoplight red on the natural aluminum lettering.

I worked 2 weeks with a broken wrist bone. Finally went to the clinic. They shut me down. Off since 3/18. So all this wonderful mild weather I can't do squat. Haven't got a check from work comp. It's been over a month.

Damage from one of the previous owners.

Sorry to hear you've been sidelined. At least now you have extra time for around the shop & farm? Even with a bum wrist.

I took my leaking heater out of the loop. No time take apart the dash and replace the core so I just bought 2' of 5/8'' and disconnected the hoses at the dash so I could loop the 2' to the hard pipes. I'll probably not get around to fixing it right until winter comes around and then I'll be freezing but it was starting to leak really bad and making a mess in the cab.

I don't want any stop leak in my radiator but I've thought about adding it to the heater while it's disconnected and then rinsing it out good afterwards. But still not a "fix".

On Friday I went to discount tire to get 4 new BFG T/A KO3 tires, and after an excruciating 4 hour wait I started driving, and pulling out of the first stop light something terrible started happening with my front left wheel. It tried to lock up, was making horrible noises, but once I got rolling it seemed to quiet down. I couldn't see anything wrong externally. The pulling out of the next stop light it was even worse. My son was gone camping with his Cummins so I had no way to get it home other than driving it, about 15 miles. Got home, pulled the wheel, lug stud was missing, when I pulled the hub it was mayhem. The lug stud had poked holes in the disc brake rotor, and decimated the splash guard and several of the nuts coming through the spindle. Also the back of the hub had gotten ground down and mushed in to the point that I had to spend hours grinding the inside radius with porting gear do I could get the grease seal to fit. They refunded the cost of one tire, but in retrospect that wasn't nearly enough for how much time it too. Replaced the grate Timken bearings with the only ones I could get, wutang wonders. I need to find a replacement left side disc splash guard and all the studs and nuts, and another BUDD 4x4 hub, but those are not easy to find. That ate two days of my three days off.

I cerakoted my 14CM exhaust housing and it still looks perfect after two years.
