Dove into the drivers side door to figure out why the power window quit working again after prolly the 3rd new motor in couple years. Thought it was going to be grounding issue, from what I've read but everything checked out. Pulled motor and freed it up a bit with channel locks. Plugged it in and hit the switch. Works great. Reassembled and notice some drag in the up-down operation. Made some adjustments and lubricated everything while I had the interior panel off. Everything seems fine now. Nice right now in SE Texas. Working window a necessity for cruising this time of year!

 

The way you put oil in the tranny is you first replace the fill plug with an elbow pointed up to allow the other quart. Then you get one of those little hand pumps to pump the oil in rather than trying to pour it in from the jug.

I was trying to pump it directly through the Top PTO bolt hole like mentioned using a hand pump. In the future I'll try it with the elbow or just pull the shifter boot and pour in that way.

 

I put these on my '90. I don't know if these are exactly the same, it says '94 and later. I did have a small clearance problem on installation, but a grinder solved that. It allows the addition of 3 quarts of oil and has a drain and a port for temp sender. Pricey, but IIRC, I bought mine directly from the maker a lot cheaper, but that was 10 years ago at least..Mark

The way I do mine is pull truck sideways on a bank so the drivers side is up and crawl under pure the 5 qts in plug it and done.Oh yea forgot drain it first before pulling on the bank

 

Could you use a steel drive-on ramp under the left front wheel in the relative comfort of your own driveway instead of a possibly unstable embankment?......Ben

 

Ben here’s my bank and it’s very stable it worked for me .But I would not put my left side on a steel ramp I wouldn’t put my frame in such a bind.A elbow on the tranny and a cheap pull type suction filler works to.And the puppies get to lick you when you’re under the truck

Put a new battery in my 91 D250 ,, let it run awhile ,, still don't have the money for the new ring gear& pinion ,, been 4, looooong months, and the weather has been " RAINING ",, don't have a shop ( garage ).

But summers coming , trees make shade, man I miss my truck.

Man, I feel ya. My 3.54 pinion broke half of its teeth off. Just got done swapping in a '89 Dana 70 that I had to drive all the way down to Corpus Christi to get (3.5 hours each way).
A first gen Dana 70 is getting to be as rare as hen's teeth but still cheaper than a new ring and pinion set. This one's a stupid open diff though.

Your old power-loc from your bad diff will swap into the new axle.

I am just finishing up my new shop so now I have a nice warm, clean, dry and well lit work space. Patches and the other vehicles will start getting the maintenance and upgrades I have been putting off.

Having your shop finished and ready is going to make you feel like you're 19, with your whole life ahead of you again. Just watch how quickly you realize that you didn't build it anywhere near big enough though.
