Poncho died on us while dropping off my daughter to school this morning.
I had to pick it up with the '95 dually and trailer later after leaving it beached in someone's driveway.
It turns out the fuel sending must be acting weird as it reads 1/4 tank, but was totally out of fuel...
Good times, but it was and easy fix. After getting it home, I put 10 gallons of diesel in it, pressurized the tank with a psi or two, cracking a few fuel lines and it is back up and running.

Today, I cleaned all the trans and coolant tubes, and found the only bad one was the one under the coolant heat transfer cooler bracket. So I think, anyway... Once they blast them, I'll know for sure.
So I dropped them off at the powder coater. They're supposed to blast them, and see what, if anything needs to be addressed. Crossing my fingers.
Went to the cummins dealer today, and low and behold, there was no one there. Place was EMPTY, gate locked, and no signs for what happened. Called somewhere out in the mid west cummins, and they said (after putting me on hold for nearly 20 minutes) that they moved to Kearney NJ. So after sitting there for nearly an hour, went to the new place.
They didn't have much of what I needed. Turbo base gasket, drain tube gasket, and hose. Other than that, NADA...
So I went onto sleezebay and found OEM Cummins tube # 3914823 coolant tubes (6 of them) at a diesel shop in Colorado. Ordered it up and hopefully see it in a few days. It too, will go to the powder coating company, to be blasted, zinc primer, and new topcoat for maximum protection against the salt monster.
The 90* coolant elbows are $46 a piece at cummins, and I found 3 of them for that price on Ebay. Silicone, 4 ply, coolant hoses. Give them a shot, and see how long they last. Hopefully they last a while, as the company sold dozens of them, and no bad reviews.

Stopped at a customers house today, and saw revenge of the cricket. How many crickets has this spider eaten in it's lifetime ? Well, this cricket got the last laugh.
You could actually hear him crunching the spider.... or maybe he was giggling.. hard to tell, exactly.

Paint stores usually carry this.
Eats the rust off of metal, while leaving the original metal untouched, coating the surface with a non conductive coating which then can be primed and painted over

Same stuff I've always used also, Mark.
Etches galvanized really well, which is required before painting that stuff.
Tried telling a guy once, about pre etching his gutters prior to paint. He though just a hose off of the factory oils would suffice. Yeah, he painted them, and when the first decent hard wind and rains came, paint flakes all over the lawn, lol.
Last year, as part of my light duty honey do's around the house, my wife had me swap out every single door **** and lockset in the entire house. I did approx. 3 a day, as that was all I could do at the time. When it came time to do the hinges to match the new bronze color of the handles, instead of buying new hinges I pre etched them with that same stuff, Mark, and those hinges looked brand new and clean, ready for paint. Came out sweet, and saved $$ by re using the hinges and the screws.
Took time to prep and paint approx. 80 hinges, but I had nothing better to do, lol

Good idea, Edwin! Let's take it another step further, and since you're into guns and ammo, you probably know of the Hornady jacuzzi tub cleaner, large enough to soak and clean parts and pieces of an entire AR rifle. Heats up the solution, girrates the fluid, all that. Originally designed to just clean up the used brass, Hornady came out with a much larger version to clean up gun parts and tooling.
Kind of an expensive way of cleaning automotive parts, but for sure it would work.

Speaking of household stripping of paint, has anyone ever tried the crockpot cooking in water method. It seems to work for that gal on Rehab Addict. I wonder if it would work for automotive parts. Maybe not for rust but for the grease and ancient dirt. Maybe have to finish off with the phosphoric acid.
I'd suggest an old used crockpot and not your wife's new one if you want to live.

Funny, but every once in awhile the most perfect tool needed resides in the wife's stuff, and must be snuck out: can you say fingernail files?
Every once in awhile I threaten my wife one day when she gets home from work I'll have a carburetor dismantled on the kitchen table, and I'll be soaking parts in a bucket between my legs while watching TV.
