According to that analysis by mysteryman the biggest risks to the Getrag are 1) underlubrication, and 2) "rattling" 4th gear. Since seeing that I don't upshift into 4th under about 1800rpm. And hauling heavy and slowing on a hill I downshift to 4th when 5th is down to 2000rpm, otherwise 4th is already lugging and I'm off to the crawl lane.

So long as FIVE quarts of good lube is in it, a Getrag can handle all the cows the Cummins will pull for as many miles as you can stay awake for, day in and day out, so long as grass grows and wind blows.

Improper driver behavior, however, can shell one out like a Claas through tall corn; of course, no other gear-box will do any better.

Drive it like a big truck that still has three payments before it's yours and the Getrag will last accordingly.

Drive it like some punk in a Mustang and sooner or later it will catch up with you.

I'm good friends with the original owner of my 93 and when he had around 60 k on it it broke. He was a truck driver, and never towed anything but his lunch pail with the truck. He was about as easy on the truck as one can be. I think it was just a fluke thing, but never the less it did happen. I have had brand new stuff break. Mechanical things are as good as the builder. Could have been a monday hang over at the plant.

Lol it will take a beating pulling out of a car show. Got to show of the 12v Pierre to the v8's. But im mostly woried about it handiling the power and the ta of twins later on down the road it would only be a toy. What I under stand is it will handle if you drive like to old man down the street im 20 and I would most likely drive it like I stole it when im in it or the kid with daddys mustang.
