The wet dog shake shut down
The wet dog shake shut down
I always used to think the 1st gen Cummins body shake on shut down was kind of cool, until it broke the passengers bucket seat from the floor! Anybody else had this? Cost me $40 for a new bucket seat hinge. Hope it don't do it again too soon.

Am I missing out on something?
Why do they shake?
All that mine does is the cummins Chirp then stops dead.
Is it the engine running on or is it all of the sheetmetal shaking?
Does it have something to do with the transmission being auto or manual?
Thinking the torque converter would help load the engine as it stops.

Well I really dont have a shake, kinda a real small "kick" at about the same time the chrip happens. It is alot more noticable with the doors open. Doesn't bug me. I kinda like it. If a full cup of water (to the top)was on the dash, it would kick enough to spill a little.
It took 12 years to bust the first seat mount. Do you think you'll have the truck in 12 more years?
They do shake worse if the motor mounts are loose, it's a good thing to to check them if you think the truck shakes a lot.

Mrs FNJs truck vibrates in gear when idleing checked all the motor trans mounts cant find any thing wrong it too chirps when u shut it off. My truck does not vibrate at all and it does not chirp when turned off? The chirping is when the engine is turned off the surpentine belt stops suddenly and the belt tenioner tries to take up the slack and the belt skids on the stopped pulleys and CHIRP!!

How'd he know that?
