Weird fuel problems
My truck starts to pop when you rev it when you first start. Even if its only been sitting for an hour after driving it. After it runs a couple minutes it quits popping. Also if the truck is on an incline with the motor down hill it idles a little faster sounds crazy i know but it does. If I'm coming off the highway and i get on the brakes pretty hard you can hear it rev a little higher. Not sure would what I should do now, I was planning on getting DDP 50hp injectors this summer. I have a video of it cranking after sitting around two hours to show the popping when I rev it. Any input would be great.
First, get that sticker out of the back window and put a good one on it, any that says "International" or "Case IH" will do. Just make sure it doesn't say "John Deere", that's a sure way to make it run like crap!!!!
Is your oil pressure up when you do this? I noticed last summer I was in gear a few times before my pressure came up and it would try to cut out like that.
Could it be a pinhole letting a little air into the line?

get outta here with that red stuff haha

I'm not sure about the oil pressure because my sending unit has went out however i picked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge yesterday to put on it.
I haven't found any pin holes but i can look harder. thanks for the reply
That would be my guess too, look for any damp spots or connections that are covered in a fine dirt. When I fist got my D350 the guy said it would only start when facing down hill with the peddle on the floor and hold your mouth just right with one eye half closed, other wise it wouldn't start, guess he thought that was normal and had been doing it for about a year. A new filter and o-ring above the fuel heater and it starts just fine now, dont even need to squint an eye.

I'm not real sharp on this stuff but it seems to me if there's any kind of air leak it must be on the fuel side. The intake air is pressurized way above atmospheric pressure all the way from turbo to intake air horn, so it's not likely to pulle air, even on deceleration.
Could be it's leaking at fuel line fittings between lift pump and injectors. In between pressurized shots from IP it could be pulling air anywhere there.
On the timing you should be able to just eyeball the IP and see how far it is from the block, or how far from alignment with mark on timing case.
On the downhill thing you might carefully inspect all of the throttle linkage and check for loose motor mounts. Weight of engine may shift forward and pull on the linkage. Or move to Kansas.
