weekend project started

I am installing my pod's a new fss and my grid heater delete this weekend. I got started tonight so far I got the grids off and removed the injector lines. I took the delivery valves out and cleaned them out there was one that had a chunk of rubber in it and another that had two chunks of rubber in it. I cleaned them all out and re installed them. On the last one I was putting it back and it didn't feel like it went in right so I pulled it back out and when I did I dropped the spring. It took an hour to find I was lucky that my wife was able to find it in the grass with a magnet. I was so lucky to find that I thought I was in trouble there.

My friend Peter spreads an old bedsheet under the truck before he does anything tricky like pump work. I should be so smart.

Yea you got a good point there I just told the wife that next time I need an old white sheet to lay out. This aint the first time either when I did the gov spring I lost the spring from the top hat. I found that one with a big magnet also. You would think that I would learn but I am hard headed. I guess that is the italian in me lol.

Isn't this a bad time of year to be putting in a grid delete? Seems to me about 6 months ago would have better, then you could stick the heater BACK IN this time of year.

It don't get cold enough here to worry about the grids. It might idle rough for a minute but it will still start. (I hope)

I have had the grid heater out of mine for over 3 years now. Here in Colorado it will start, even if I don't plug in the block heater, white smokes for a while. I was up in Montana last year during the holidays, below zero every night, with the block heater plugged in it fired right off, someone kicked the cord out of the socket one night, started pretty well anyway. I have been looking at the big truck ether systems, just have to push a button to ether it, might go that route.

I'm so glad i sold my powerstroke. that darn thing would hesitate to start @ 20 degrees above zero. at 0 degrees, the sounds a V8 makes running on two or three cylinders is something nobody should have to listen to. AND IT HAD GLOWPLUGS!! These dodges starting with no plugs, no grid, and no fuss is still amazing to me. I'll have to get myself a delete soon.

Good luck with your PODS Onemoparnut!

Ok so i cant work on much cause it is dark. So I hammered out a couple new gaskets for the intake horn. Then I started to paint the intake horn and I thought hey this aluminum might shime up nice on a rouge wheel. So after 2 hours of buffing it shine pretty good not perfect but good enough.

Well I am done man what a difference. I have no idea how that thing was ever running with the old injectors. The tips were so crusted up you cannot even see the holes. I am making 40 psi of boost now and the egts hit 1500 no problem. I am probably going to back the fp screw out some to help the egts some and try to control the boost also. I have a wg so I might hook that up also to help with the boost. That miss that I had in the lower rpms is gone and the truck is so much smoother. I had brandon in the truck a while back and he described the sound at low rpm as a helicopter type sound that is also gone. 40 to 80 mph in od is just amazing the truck pulls so hard. Now I gotta go to the track lol...

How much boost were you running before the injectors? How big of a seat of the pants difference was there?
