Weak pump or weak pressure
My 93 is getting a bit tired. The stock pump has the fuel screw all the way in and timing adjusted to 1.45 as well as a air adjustment and stock injectors.
Over time its down to a 18 psi max on manifold pressure. Is this a tired pump or is the lift pump getting weak. If the lift pump, hows the easiest way to check the pressure.
Also, I have 2 used VE pumps that I thought about having one built with a 2800 governor adj and fueled up a bit. I dont want anything crazy, as I have replaced my share of the G360s, 300h.p. and 650-700 is fine with me. What are your recomendations and estimated costs?
thanks,
wallace

Might want to ask a mod/admin type to move this to the 1st gen forum for more response.
You're pretty sure you don't have a boost leak? You don't mention the truck being down on power, does it feel weak? Is the gas pedal giving you full travel down at the pump? I've seen several trucks with a lot less miles where that's the power problem. How long have the injectors been in there, have you tried double dosing with an injector cleaning additive?

I thought this was the 1st Gen forum?
I have full travel on the throttle, they are origional injectors, I know it has to be fuel related as the EGTs just dont get up like they used to. With a load at WOT I only see about 1000-1050. I ran Howes and one other cleaner in it with no change.
As far as the truck feeling weak, it feels OK, not like it used to. It pulls fine down low, but with a load is struggling a bit and the fuel mileage has dropped off by about 2 mpg.

try dumping a couple quarts of 2 cycle oil in next time you fill up, if the pump pressure is low from wear the extra oil will pick it up some and you'll know for sure.
