When I bought my 93 used, It didn't have a tire jack. I had one though from one of my old gas pickups and tried to install it where they used to fit on the gassers ( rad cradle beside rad)
but it won't fit on the diesel becuase the inter-cooler tubes fit there.
What does everybody else have for theirs? What do you fellerz do?

 

My factory jack used to sit in a bracket under the passenger side headlight. That's before I threw it in the trash!! The jack wouldn't go low enough on the front to get under a flat tire, had to drive the front up on some firewood to get the jack under the suspension. Two weeks ago I had a flat on the back. Got out the trusty jack ,which fit fine under the back axle, but it wouldn't go high enough to put a non-flat tire on it. I'd buy a cheap floor jack and stow it somewhere IMHO.

 

mine is in that same brakect under the pass headlght. saw it yesterday, dunno if it works or not.

I just found a cheap ($12) small floor jack and tucked it behind the rear jump seat. It's still in the never-been-opened box because I usually have my big cheap ($39) floor jack chained down in the bed if I need one.

 

Dodge didn't include a jack on 1st gen duallies, the reason being they didn't want to spend the money to build a jack that would handle the rear axle at full GVW. I have a cheapie ($25) 2 ton trolley jack in my bed box in case of a flat.

 

It came with the tire bar and socket stowed in the cab on the rear wall, but NO JACK or stowage bracket for a jack.

 

The stock jack is ok if your truck is empty, but I had a flat with a ton and a half of stone in the truck, in August, it was hard to crank it with that much weight. I have a 5 ton screw jack out of an old Ford ton and a half truck tucked in behind the passenger seat. It's slow but easy to use.

 

One of the advatnages to a flatbed is the tool boxes that can be hung underneath it. I can keep a floor jack and all the tools there..

 

My factory jack is under the hood, and I guess will stay there as I never use it. I have a 3 1/2 ton floor jack that I keep with me.

 

Well I don't have a jack and now my spare fell off from under the truck when I went over a rough set of train tracks tonight.
The lock that I had holding the chain together broke and the tire fell and jammed up under the box. I felt a a few BANGs and the truck jerked like a rear end was locking up and I heard the tire squeel each time the tire made contact with the road.
I thought the rear differential desinigrated.
So tonight at work I made the sweetest spare tire rack.
Works real good. I'll get some pictures tomorrow of it at work on the hoist and I'll post them.
The nice thing about it, is that it comes off with two 3/8" bolts and a pin.
I've designed it to be remove easily if necessary but If I put the pad lock on the pin, It's hard to steal my spare.

 

I would like to see your design -- I have been hauling my spare around in the bed, which is fine empty, but a PITA when you want to load a 4x8 sheet of something, etc.

 

Rammer64, the jack did mount under the pass. headlight and the crank was folder in half and mounted to the Pass. fenderwell. Mine rattled so off it came about 4 years ago. I don't carry a spare and 'knock on wood', I haven't had a problem with my tires. All all the different rims I have mounted tires on, never a one has lost a pound while they were on thr truck. I do have a 3 ton jack at home though for working on the truck.

 

I have a factory jack, lug wrench, and leverage bar mounted on the floor in the club cab. It works great!!

 

I'ld like to see that set-up.
