Make sure when installing that the little electrodes are DRY as any moisture will set off the WIF light.

Also. I had worn, almost frayed wires going to the sending unit. Could barely see them when on the motor but upon taking the unit out, I noticed it and that was causing me problems also. Some goop and electrical tape sealed them back up for another year.

The connector is also a good source of problems since it will draw moisture. Spray some WD-40 in it and it should be OK.

He's right. Don't touch the two electrodes when switching the sensor over to the new filter. As far as correcting it now...?? Might try removing the sensor 'on the filter on the truck'. (If the filter comes off, fine, then just remove the sensor with the filter 'off the truck'. Just trying to save ya a filter.) Then dry it off with a rag, then reinstalling. Then with the lift pump, refill the filter.

Compressed air would probably work well also.

Water in Fuel Filter Light

If the filter is new most likley the spring inside the filter is touching the sensor tips. Take the sensor out and center the spring then test for continunity with a VOM. If you have continunity then the spring is still touching the sensor tips. Then fill with fresh fuel and install. Removing the battery connections will not reset the sensor.

I always test now because I ran into the same problem awhile back.
