Water in fuel light?

My water in fuel light came on again after cleaning the engine compartment (normal) but this time it won't shut off. I released fuel from the seperator filter four times and no result. The truck seems to run fine but the light won't shut off. I also checked the electrical connection at the sensor and it's dry. Anyone know what got wet that I'm missing?

The only time I had a problem with the WIFL was when I accidentally dangled the wire connector from engine wiring to the pigtail connected to the WIFL sensor in a bag of diesel oil when I was changing the filter.

I tried a bunch of things to get the diesel out of the connector. Finally, I disconnected the pigtail from the engine wiring. Just let them both dangle in the breeze. A couple of weeks later, I reconnected them. Worked fine after that.

A short between the two wires anywhere along them will turn on the light.

open up the conectors and spray them good with contact cleaner then used compressed air like for cleaning computer keyboards and really blast the connecter bodies deep and that should do it. Same think happened to mine each time I steam clean the engine.

Mine did that once and stayed on for about 2 weeks. I put silicone around the wires where they go into the connector after it dried out.

Mine came on as a result of a failing alternator. Low voltage seems to make it come on right away...

try spraying WD40 in the connector it will displace any water in it

WD40= water displacement formula 40
