vent windows-

Can anyone upload new pics on how to do this job. Looks like all the old ones are dead. FSM is not very good here. Is there gasket or orings which go between the vent glass and the upper attachment screw or the handle??

Got a new set of vent seals and window seals.

Michael

Samiam, if you don't mind, where did you source your seals from? Did it come in a kit form, to do both doors and windows, or did you buy each piece separately x 2?

It's been awhile now, but last time I did mine were in 2005, and it came in kit form from JC Whitney.

I purchased them a long time ago. Not overly pleased. Probably ebay. Some should make this seal common to work in all Gen 1s.

now I just need to clean 25 years off the door latch.. lots of white grease and dirt.

Still don't get it Mark. Window all the way down, push the vent assembly fwd and down. Kinda pivot around the front edge of the main glass .

The window channel you trim yourself don't you? Been a lot of years since I did mine. Looks like the lower corner of the vent window seal is not in place and is pulling back the seal from around the post.

It has been a while, but I believe that it is top toward rear and curl it around the glass. It came out fairly easily except for the snags. Tman has a suggestion to soak the rubber in alcohol in that thread. I did not do that, but it would probably help with the gaps...Mark

No timing. The vent rubber is in the door, no. It's a tad short. The wiper strips are as they come, too short. Same with the seal at the top. 1/4 on all three pieces and we'd have a decent fit.
I had a phenolic wedge and the handle fit the radius well. A few blows with a dead blow and they fit the aft edge nicely.

Anyone know a contact at the soft seal, metro or other supplier?
