VE Pump Question

I recently rotated the fuel pin on my truck, and I noticed what looks like a small breather tube on the top half of the pump. It is located on the back of the afc cover and is held on by a nut that connects the brass line coming off of the back of the top (afc) part of the pump. This tube was disconnected on my truck and another friends 1st gen, but it is connected back to a small tit on my dad's 1st gen. Maybe it is some sort of pressure equalizer for the pump. I'm going to reconnect it this afternoon, but I am curious what it is.

Thanks,

Dawson

Can you snap a pic for us? It sounds like your AFC tube is broken. Wait 'til you feel the power when you fix that!

I hope these are clear enough. It is the little black tube that is pointing toward the jambnut on the throttle rod. You can see the end of it just to the right of the solenoid connection.

Oh, that's just the AFC vent. It's not supposed to be connected to anything, it lets air in and out of the bottom of the AFC housing as the diaphragm moves up and down.

Oh, I see. I thought it might be some sort of breather tube. However, my dad is pretty sure that this same tube is connected on his truck. Could there be something else that is supposed to be connected, or do I need to tell him to disconnect it? Thanks for the info.
