Valve cover spacers for head studs...

Came across these being sold on E-bay....Auction # 121754070458

Thought it was a potentially neat solution to having your valve covers machined.

I just can't figure where you place them? Under the seal on the head...not likely since it would probably weep oil. But inside the valve cover gasket, then your valve cover goes on top? Then the washers would go on top of the rocker stand, under the valve cover?

Good idea, (if no leaks down the road) but for just a day or two and a tad more cash supporting your local machinist, you can have it done right by milling the pedestals. I'm still glad I machined mine after seeing this invention, just my .02.

Is there a reason why guys are not using the Haisley head studs? Just curious as I am goin to do studs this summer. Seems kind of a wash.. $430 for ARP studs/$80 spacers or machining rockers $? or the Haisley studs $490 and some grinding on the valve covers.

Last time I had my rocker ped's milled it was $100. Would still do it again for the $20 difference as the point of milling the pedestals down is to increase the stud thread length. Without doing it the tensile strength of the bolt exceeds the shear strength of the threads

Sure my machinist wouldn't charge me more then $100...so I have to agree that the proper procedure is worth it.

This route adds another potential leak point.

Do it the right way and have the rocker shaft pedestals machined.
