Vacuum pump rebuild

Vacuum pump rebuild
So I know this question has probably been asked before but I can't seem to get a clear answer. What I'm wanting to know is if you do the rebuild on the vacuum pump like in the sticky does it also renew the vacuum of the pump? Mines getting a little low on vacuum and I'd like to know if rebuilding it will restore the lost vacuum?

Well it could be a yes and no. The reseal kit might replace an O-ring that is allowing the vacuum to escape a bit, but this is a vane pump so it has 4 sliding arms that spin out and seal against the wall of the pump. As they spin around they capture the air in the enclosed system and evacuate it...eventually causing a negative pressure system...also know as vacuum.
Now if these vanes are worn too far they may not be sealing tight against the wall of the pump. Or the wall of the pump is scoured too badly to allow a good seal. If either of these is the case then your pump is worn out and a new O-ring kit will not likely help things too much.
But the cost of the kit, and the amount of effort to pull and replace, is a lot less then a new unit. So I'd give it a shot first and see what happens. Plus you'll be able to clean and inspect everything when it's apart, and you might spot what's really going on to cause a low vacuum situation.
