update on the lack of cruise control

Allright, to date here is all I have tried:

1. Switches on steering wheel- all is good
2. Brake switch- FSM procedures followed and all is good
3. Fuse- good, power to the fuse and after the fuse
4. Speed sensor- good there
5. Vacuum- Meets FSM requirements
6. cable from linkage to servo- solid and attached at both ends
7. servo- works on both my 1st gens when swapped to check

What's left is the clockspring, I presume. I have no power to the servo, and no power on the female plug that attaches to the switches on the steering column, and I followed test procedures acording to FSM. The dealer wants $155.00 for a new clockspring, and unfortunately there isn't a test procedure on the FSM for a clockspring fault. I realize some of you have replaced the C-spring, but did you all pay that outrageous amount? Any other sources? Any other troubleshooting procedure that I am missing??

C'mon... no advise on the clock springs? Hopefully some one here has a better source than $155.00 dealer cost!

Well, this probably ISN'T the right part, but you never know about some of these parts - the column uppers sure appear the same to me(outwardly anyways!). My guess is the plug/terminals could be different but may be able to be adapted(for the cost)? Hope it might work for you! :-)

I called my local NAPA and I believe this was the one they were telling me about. made for a 97 and up. Unless someone has already tried this one type, I'll wait a few. Thanks, though!

Let me know how this works out for you bigragu. I too have had no cruise control and have tried numerous things to no avail. I hope this works out but would having a broken clockspring affect something other than the cruise control?

I had to replace the clockspring on mine right after I got it because, well, it was half-way gone! I got it for employee cost of $90, reg $144. Lemme know if I can be of assistance with this purchase. I could save you about $50 after tax+shipping.

I don't think it was that high, more like $90. Try one of the dealers that sells parts online at net instead of list, like dodgeparts.com. You'll pay shipping but save tax and the outrageous markup.

It certainly seems like the only thing left.
