I don't want to put the hex on, but I don't trust dealer installs. Especially on a truck that's 20-ish years old. There's no J1939 connector to plug in to.

If there are mechanics that have been there since the late 90's I am sure someone there can handle it. They just TDC the motor and install the pump thats locked tdc. Just be sure you don't touch the fuel screw for a while. If you get a bum pump let it show its colors before you void the warranty. If the tamper cap is popped off and the pump takes a dump a week after you get it, they won't stand behind there work.

Just a thought, the pump does not have to fail to be replaced, soooo, all you people that have the affected years, and has not been replaced under the recall, can go get a NEW pump. Giddyup boys and girls...Mark

Therein lies the dilemma.

It has a year warranty on it.

Tweak it and off I go.

Or it ***** the bed in a month or 9 months and I have to pay $3000.00 for a new one. Of course I'd just rebuild it but hmmmmmmmmm.......

Such decisions.....

Where on the website did you actually put your vin in ?

I found the information about the recall, but can't locate on the website where to put my VIN into to see if it's on the list.

If the pump comes locked and they TDC the engine what do I do as I have my timing advanced 1 tooth???? I ran it by the lead mech and he said not to worry.

I'm sure they will just line up the key to the key way and bolt her all back up.

I have no worries about the mechanics.

The senior one cut his teeth on Gen 1's.

My model of truck was one of the first one's they sold at the dealership.

I must add a big thank you for "Legal Dodge". For such a tiny little dealership they put "trust" into sales and their mechanical work. Absolutely unbelievable staff, and top marks for service and advice. You can actually show up their with a question or problem and they will take 10 min to come have a look or run a quick test. I run 30 Timmy's up to them every couple of months just to say thanks. They love it as the nearest Tim's is a half an hour round trip. It's amazing how a little gesture of thanks can make a whole shop grin from ear to ear. Needless to say when I have to drop in there from time to time I get great service!!! Wonder what would happen if I showed up with a bunch of beer on a Fri. afternoon.

You are bang on my friend.

Says right on the first page of the recall that if the numbers match up and there is NO infinity mark. They HAVE TO REMOVE, AND REINSTALL A NEW PUMP!!!

My info was hidden under a thick coating of paint. So thick I could only make out the edges of 3 numbers when I held the pump up to a bright light after taking it out of the truck and put on my max glasses. And just like a genie in a bottle, I rubbed and rubbed and I got my wish!!!!

Thank you, Mark,

When I first clicked on that link, before I actually asked my question you answered, I thought it was a canadian chrysler site only. Didn't look close enough to see the United States @ the upper left.... My bad.

I put my vin in there, and it says I'm not under recall. I confirmed this by stopping @ the local Dodge Dealer and having them check as well.

No recall for me, so I guess I'm ok.... or at least my engine is.
