Unhappy Uh Oh, I have a miss -- Wait, no I don't -- Huh?

I drove about 350 miles this morning and at about the 230 mile mark, as I pulled up to a stop light, I noticed that the truck was missing severely, almost like when you first start it on a verrry cold morning (except that it was about 70* outside).

I popped the hood but didn't see anything amiss and there was no exhaust smoke so I kept going, carefully. I determined that there was not an apparent miss at cruising RPM but if I decelerated to a stop, it would miss while at idle and through most of 2nd but by the time I was up to 2000 RPM in 3rd, the miss was not noticable and then no miss in 4th. I observed this through 2 or 3 stop lights. I also noticed that if I carefully worked the throttle on deceleration, I could pretty much keep it from starting to miss.

I took it easy on it but kept going since I was closer to my destination than I was to home and about 30 miles later, when I stopped, there was no miss.

My guess is that it was a piece of dirt plugging an injector but that's purely conjecture. Any educated guesses as to why I had a consistent miss but don't any more? I'm looking for ideas since I'm still 350 miles from home and will be for most of the week.

Maybe, but it still shuts off so it couldn't have been too big a piece.

I forgot to mention, engine temp and EGTs stayed right around normal ranges before, during, and after the miss.

Also, I topped off with fuel last night but that was only adding about 23 gallons to a 70 gallon fuel tank so the new fuel would have been pretty diluted.

Well, no visible fuel leaks and still no miss so we'll see how it does on the 350 mile trip home on Friday. Wish me luck.
