In general conditions the following applies.....

For every one (1) degree "F" the ambient temp increases, the EGT value increases approx three (3) degrees "F".

What is really a bit of a mystery is at no time have I ever heard or experienced this symptom... at least not that I've ever been aware of happening... kinda wierd...

A stock H1C with an 18.5cm will boost up into the 30's with enough fuel and the right gear/load... it just takes a bit is all...

that's not good news for me. Or maybe I'm not running enough fuel. I only get about 23psi up a 6% grade tuggin 7500lbs or so, floored in 4th. I also only see about 950* pre-turbo. It will only lightly haze while doing that as well, I suppose a lot of you fog out the valley below lol

Automatic trans trucks won't do it. The automatic won't load the engine hard enough at low RPM to cause the flutter, it'll downshift instead.

Pastor,
I see the "mystery" of the lower intake temps producing lower exhaust temps every day here ....(hopefully that is what your mystery is about) I have no intercooler, so when the weather gets cold, my temps go down. I am able to hold her to the floor much longer before i hit that nice 1400* mark. And the overall boost goes about 4psi higher..im not positive cause it goes past the 35 mark on the gauge, and there are no #'s after that. Lots of fun in my 89. But i was probably completely off in the way I interpreted your mystery...oh well.

Well I adjusted the smoke screw out and turned the pump screw in and turned the Diaphram tick mark almost straight out. It lost alot of the flutter and is running pretty good. In 4th or 5th held to the floor im hitting 34 pounds of boost. and Egts around 1100 Pre. I dont think thats too bad.

Yeah, it's just too bad you lose some of the performance potential having to use the winter fuel blend.
