My roommate has a turbo that came off his 99 3500. The turbo should be good because he swapped engines due to a block problem. Should I swap turbo's and put his on my 92. My truck is a daily driver and reliability is of the utmost importance. Also fuel mileage is very important. I am not sure what size housing my turbo has or exactly what his is. Any advice on how to tell what they are and if I should swap them would be appreciated.

he has an hx35 i beleave with a 12cm wastgated housing, would work well on your truck because you have a 5spd take some time to in large the wastegate, info in sticky

only thing thta might be different is the down pipe and 2 studs stay in the exhaust housing on his so you need to rmove them and drill the holes to fit you manifold.

What are the pros and cons of the swap. What should I expect and how tough of a job is it? I do use the truck to tow also.

If that 99 is an auto trans truck it is a HY35. It flows about the same as your H1C and it has a real small exhaust housing. Pass on it if that is what he has.
