Turbo or Intercooler

Right now my EGTs can hit 1500 if I keep my foot in it. Not sure which way to go turbo or intercooler, any opinions?

Thanks
Mike

What kind of boost are you seeing? Maybe a functioning WG would help. I'd probably look at a turbo first.

I would check for dirt, oil ,leaves........any thing that would restrict air flow thru the intercooler......................if all is clear, better turbo is probable next.

Flash.

I would go ahead and invest in a dial micrometer and associated mount so as to be able to set the IP timing dead-on. With that fueling, I think I'd start at 1.9mm. I think 2.00 would be about right.

I don't know the MAP of that turbo set-up but I have all ideas you're at the bleeding edge of it and are getting more superheat than a larger, less maxed turbo could offer with the same drive.

Make the wastegate operable to start as that will greatly help limit the superheating.

The Gillett stage II is the same as a HTT stage III set up. I've heard that any boost over 30 psi is hot; should I set my wg lower? Where can I get that set up to time the pump?

Thanks

I would set the WG to 30 if that's what the compressor's good for.

Doing a quick search on Ebay . . . . .

Here's the basic mount (use your 8mm diameter shank micrometer) ~ http://cgi.ebay.com/VW-Audi-Bosch-di...QQcmdZViewItem

Hope this helps.

BC847,
The turbo set up is supposed to be good up to 350hp, but I don't think so.
Bobva,
I still have the coller on the fuel screw so I'm not maxed.

Thanks for the info..

Your turbo is marginal for your fuel. More timing will help some.
