Yep but while you're at it might as well go to a 16.

i'd say go for it. I hardley noticed a difference when i changed my 18.5 to a 16 so it seemed more like a waste of money. I think it could have been put somewhere else more hp efficently

Yep free is good. If you can get a 18.5 for free, that would be worth the install to switch from the 21 to 18 in my opinion. 16 is a money maker for diesel vendors.

Free is definately a good price. I'm running a wastegated 12cm right now with the wastegate not connected. Got it for $50. It's snappy off the line but pretty flat up top. I live dangerously. I have my fuel cranked way up and no guages. Dohhhhhhhhhhh Still running stock injectors though so no melt down so far. I need to pull my head out and get some guages on this thing before I play too much more.

0-70 I can hit 1250 on the pyro. Stock injectors and tired lift pump. 2-3 seconds later its in critical temp zone. It really heats up quickly you'd be surprised how fast it actually happens. I'd say 0-100 and I'd be 1400+ and climbing, but I don't drive that fast.

I disagree about the 16cm. I went from an 18.5 to the 16 and my truck came alive. The air is much thinner up here though, and that could make a difference...

I have noticed that more than not, people that say going from an 18.5 to 16 did not make much differene have auto tranny's. The one's that say it helped quite a bit have manual tranny's.

I have a manual tranny and i didn't feel a big difference. I didn't have a boost gauge at the time I put it in so im not sure of how much of a difference it actually makes as far as boost/spool up.

My old 90' was a beast down low with a 12cm & the wastegate blocked off, should be able to find one really cheap if not free, in fact I think I have 3 or 4 of them laying around here, I liked it much better, but I done alot of towing & the bottom end power was a little more important, so I guess it depends on what you're gonna do with it, but I was very pleased w/the 12cm on mine, Dusty

You must of done more to it than just change housings. 18.5cm to 16cm housing, boost gained is 2.5psi. For every drop in size equals 1psi of boost. You must of had a charge air leak prior to housing change. Then when you put it back together, charge air elbow/hump hoses etc, you got it tight.

If that's true I'm living more dangerously than I thought. When we hooked up a temporary boost guage to my truck after doing my pump rebuild and mods I was hitting 25 psi boost with my 18.5 housing. With my 12 I must be dangerously close to a head gasket failure. Time for guages. I kinda went about this thing backwards.
