Trucks Side Panels

Was taking them off the drivers side tonight when I noticed my power doorlocks and power windows were acting a little strange. So once I had that tinkered with, I cleaned the dusk off in there and tidied up... even though the power door lock still seemed a little sketchy for my tastes. Anyhow what I noticed was most of the spring like clips that hold the panel on the door, were missing. So I got thinking... should I even bother going to a dodge dealer asking for replacements or is there an alternate way I could aquire some? I'm guessin most will say go to the junk yard but I still can't help but think that there could be an alternate way to make something that'd do the same job Lots of possibilities out there so why not ask eh.

Another thing I want to address is ever since I installed my new deck in my truck my 2 front speakers seem to be a little... how do you say... NOT WORKING! I figure it might be from bad wiring on my part or a bad connector but I was wundering if anyone else might of had the same problem. Looked in there tonight as well and everything seemed to be, for the most part, fine. Although the magnets on them seemed to have their fair amount of metal shavings surrounding alot of it. Could this mean a sign of anything?

Thanks

You can buy the little spring barb clips at most autoparts stores. I found some at AutoZone.

Some speakers don't have the voice coil sealed from dust etc so anything magnetic will get in there and once it's in it stays. This can make it sound scratchy or stop it up completely.

Solution is to buy better speakers and make sure the VC is sealed.

Check or replace the wires that run from your door speakers to the cab.
The wires usually suffer metal fatigue from doors opening and closing after many years.

Hopefully it's that easy, lol. I've been to almost every autoparts store in this little town and I can't even get a price on a stainless steel exhaust sytem for my truck. I found that to be quite appauling myself. So hopefully they can handle a few clips Any idea on how much u payed to replace em?

Apoc, I got a pack of them at a Canadian Tire. Bring one in for comparison though, as the crappy tire listing for them is for the wrong ones. ( of course). It's only couple of bucks.

Just don't buy a voltage regulator from crappy tire though. I just bought one that lasted 5 days to replace the other that lasted six months. Good quality control they have there.

If you make friends with the parts guys at your local dealership they will give you all the fin clips and plastic rivets you can ask for. As for the speakers I can only speak for the 98.5-02 trucks.

For the door clips, you can also go to a good Auto Repair shop and they can order you some. My friend order me a box of 100 for $ 10 or so. Always nice to have extra around so when fooling around with the door panels, I don't even think twice about breaking the rusty one off.

The ones I got actually said they were for a ford but they were the same clips. They were in a rotating rack with 10 to a box I think. About $3-$4 a box.
