Truck stuck in park... Help!

Driving a 91 dodge w250 with the a727 3 speed auto, trucks been sittin up for bout two weeks. Yesterday i was cleaning a little bit of caked up mud out from under the truck, had a clump around neutral safety plug so i took it loose and cleaned all around it, made sure it was back on good. I accidently bumped my shifter linkage while i was down there and now it wont come out of park. Truck cranks and shifter wont move but about an inch. Hopefully someone can help, thanks for looking.

You shift lever may be tight against the steering wheel lock. Try turning the steering wheel while moving the shifter.

Hmmm....did something maybe get jammed up under the shift rod on the tranny? Maybe a small pebble or something?

Maybe have someone sit in the truck and try and shift the linkage, while you lay under and try and see what's binding.

Just be sure you block the tires well so you don't get run over.

Never happened to me, but did to a BIL. He was pretty broken up about it. (literally)

Sounds like an adjustment issue like the previous posters have suggested. But could be the rooster comb in the tranny too. Mine started getting hard to get out of park (after wiggling he wheel etc) and finally that comb fell out or broke. Its on my list of things to do someday...
