2006 Dodge 2500 4x4 5.9L auto trans

When I start the truck and push the brake, I can move the shifter, but it doesn't show I'm moving it from park. I've looked underneith, and I think the cable is moving, but the truck won't come out of park. Any ideas? I'm stuck.

I had the same thig happen to my 2010 there is a hole on the bottom side of steering colume about 3/8 in dia. take a rod & push up & you should be able to unlock the colume

Buddy and I traced the problem to the lever that connects the gearshift cable to the vertical shaft that goes into the valve body. The plastic that connects the horizontal lever to the vertical shaft stripped out. Part #5 on this diagram.
