Well changed the fuel filter and bled the lines. A bunch of brown stuff was coming out of the lines. I bled them till the diesel was coming out green. I suppose my fuel filter was messing up the entire injection system. Took the truck for a spin and runs way better than ever. Where would the brown come from?

You may have Algae in the tank. Run some Diesel 911 Bio Kleen Diesel fuel Biocide in the tank, and see if it will clear it out. http://www.powerservice.com/bk/

I've had good luck with their products, I run the normal stuff in my fuel fairly often. My Dad runs it in all of his Semi's also.

Yeah, that's what my brother told me to put in there. Maybe that is what actually did it.

Runs fine now, I think a injector cleaned out.. I can cruise to 70mph like nothing now. I'll have to get more of their diesel stuff.

Thank!

You don't have much in funky stuff on this engine (sensors, cat converters, etc.) If you pay attention to fuel quality and filters, it'll return good service.

Question, where can I pick up the water in fuel sensor? Also, there is a steel line from the lift pump to the fuel filter, anyone have a part number for that?

When my truck has quit it has always been because of a poor electrical connection at the injection pump. Clean up the male connector and replace the female connector. Use a little grease on the terminal to prevent future problems.

The male connector should be cleaned with sand paper. It should really shine.

I would suggest...as Bearkiller does...running a small clear replaceable in-line filter before your lift pump. I do and it amazes me the crud it picks up. This little filter will plug up first, but it's cheap and easy to replace if things start to go bad. Just keep a spare in the glove box.

Went to start the truck this am and it was shaking bad. I stepped on the gas and it level it out but a lot of blue smoke. Oil pressure was at 50 psi so that was good. Temperature is 0f here not sure what the heck is going on. I went to Napa and picked up a block heater. Its cold out and it did stall a few times. Once she warmed up all was well. Hopefully his block heater fixes this. Anything else I can do? I have the grill blocked off as Well.

PS winter formula in the fuel.

Cold start at 0° will rattle and smoke till it warms up. Engine's cold, air's cold, fuel's cold, only about half of it will burn. If it wasn't a Cummins, it wouldn't even fire.

Plug in engine heater for an hour below freezing helps a lot.

Even better put it on a timer for 2 hours before you need it.
